WELCOME to the Anglo-Boer War Philatelic Society

The Society leads the study of the Postal History and Usages of the 2nd Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902.

Much material exists which has not yet been fully researched.

Many members also collect memorabilia of the War, which were very popular at the time; including silver, china, prisoners’ artefacts, books, postcards, ephemera etc.

The Society holds regular meetings in London and the Midlands (for details see About the Society), produces a quarterly journal and has published a number of handbooks on various aspects of the philately of the War (see Publications).

The extensive Society library is available to members.

An intriguing cover from our Anglo Boer War Philately FaceBook Group …..

Why would the sender believe that this cover, sent on 17th January 1900, some two months after the commencement of hostilities, be able to make its way through to the ZAR / Transvaal uninterrupted by the authorities?  …….
